The rules fit on one screen

Emerald Chat runs on a short list of house rules, set out in full in the community guidelines. Adults only. Clothes stay on. No harassment, threats or hate. No asking for money, gift cards or crypto. No spam or links pushing people elsewhere. No recording or sharing anyone without their consent. And anything involving a minor ends an account immediately and is passed to the authorities.

The rules apply the same way in random matches, private calls, live rooms and direct messages. Being on the watching side of a live room does not change them.

Short rules, applied the same way everywhere.

What happens after you press report

Calls and live rooms both carry a flag button. Press it, pick what went wrong, and the report is on its way while you carry on. There is no need to keep looking at the person, and they never find out whose report it was.

Reports go to moderators. They can review information connected to the reported session, such as snapshots and the text that was exchanged, and weigh it against the guidelines. One report is a signal, not an automatic verdict; what it shows is what counts.

How decisions scale

Not every mistake deserves the same response, so outcomes grow with how serious and how repeated the behaviour is.

  • A warning, for a first minor slip.
  • Feature limits for a period, while the account shows it can stick to the rules.
  • A temporary suspension, which pauses matching and lifts on its own.
  • Permanent removal, for serious or repeated breaches. Removed members are not allowed to return under a new account.
  • Immediate removal and referral to the authorities for anything involving minors.

Adults only, with no grey area

Emerald Chat accepts adults only, 18 or older, and that line does not bend for a mature-looking teenager or a parent standing nearby. Every account has to belong to an adult, reports about age are taken seriously, and an account that turns out to be under age is closed rather than warned.

If you are matched with someone who looks or sounds too young, do not stay to find out. Press report, choose the reason that fits, and tap next. You will not be asked to prove anything; moderators take it from there.

Protections built into the product

Some safety features are not about moderators at all. Every call is one to one, so nobody can watch a conversation or crash it. The next button ends any match instantly, with no reason required. Voice and text modes let you meet people without showing your face. The information shown to a match is limited to nickname, age, country, level and language.

Payments go through outside processors, so your full card number never reaches Emerald Chat, and a paid action never starts without a confirmation or top-up prompt. For the personal side of staying safe, the habits that make the biggest difference are covered in is Emerald Chat safe.

Money is where most trouble begins

Plenty of bad experiences on stranger video chat turn out to be about money rather than manners. Someone tells a sad story, asks for a gift card, pushes a crypto tip or suggests moving to another app where they can take payment. All of that is against the rules here, and a request like that is a reason to report, not to negotiate.

Inside the product, spending is deliberately slow. Coins are only used for things you start yourself, such as extra matches, private calls, gifts or entry to certain rooms. Sending a gift brings up a confirmation first, and a low balance leads to a top-up screen rather than a charge you did not agree to. If anyone claims they can hand you free coins in exchange for a login or a code, treat it as a scam.

Live rooms play by the same rules

More eyes are on a live room than on a private call, yet the floor is identical. The guidelines bind the person broadcasting and every viewer who types a message alike. A report button sits in every room, and a report from a live room is handled by the same moderators as one from a call.

A room with an entry condition, whether a ticket, a follow or paid membership, shows it at the door, so you are never charged just for looking. Gifts in a room ask for confirmation in exactly the way they do in a private call.

Reaching a person

Some problems do not fit inside a report button: threats made after a call, someone sharing images without consent, or a payment that went wrong. Write to [email protected] with your nickname, what happened and roughly when, and attach screenshots if you have them. If a restriction landed on your own account and you believe it is wrong, the appeal guide explains what to include.

What you can do in the moment

Moderation works best when members use the tools they have. If a call turns bad, the order is simple: tap next to leave, tap report if a rule was broken, and move on. Arguing back rarely helps and sometimes gets both people reported.

In a live room, the same applies. Report the room or the person in the chat who is causing trouble, then swipe away. You can also keep yourself safer by holding back the details that let a stranger find you later: surnames, schools, workplaces and social media handles can all wait until you know someone much better.

Q & A

Moderation, answered

Does Emerald Chat have moderators?
Yes. Reports from calls and live rooms go to moderators, who review them against the community guidelines and decide on warnings, limits, suspensions or removal.
What happens when I report someone on Emerald Chat?
Pick a reason, send it and keep matching. Moderators look over the session and step in if a rule was broken, and the reported account is never given your name.
What is not allowed on Emerald Chat?
Nudity or sexual content, harassment, hate speech, threats, asking for money, spam, recording people without consent, and any account belonging to someone under 18.
Can I block someone on Emerald Chat?
Pressing next ends the match right away, and reporting flags the account for review. If someone keeps contacting you through messages, report them and email support with their nickname.
Is Emerald Chat moderated in live rooms too?
Yes. Live rooms have their own report button, and the same house rules apply to the person broadcasting and to everyone in the room chat.
Does Emerald Chat allow minors?
No. Emerald Chat is for adults only. Anyone who looks under 18 loses the account, and anything sexualising a child goes straight to the authorities.
Someone on Emerald Chat is threatening to post my pictures. What now?
Do not pay and do not keep talking. Save any evidence, report the account, email [email protected] and consider contacting local police.
Can I stay safe on Emerald Chat without showing my face?
Yes. Choose voice or text for the next match and the lens never turns on. Moving to video later, with someone you trust, is always an option.
Someone on Emerald Chat wants money from me. How should I handle it?
Refuse, report the account and move on. Asking for money, gift cards or crypto breaks the house rules, and moderators act on those reports.
How do I contact Emerald Chat safety?
Email [email protected] with your nickname, a description of what happened, the approximate time and any screenshots. Include the other person’s nickname if you know it.
